The Secretary is responsible for: Ensuring meetings are effectively organised and minuted. Maintaining effective records and administration.
The key responsibilities for this role include: • Organisation and co-ordination of Committee Meetings including preparation of Agenda, taking and timely completion of minutes for circulation Key skills for this role are: • Demonstrate sound judgement to effectively prioritise workload • Work autonomously • Provide a consistently high level of service
In addition to this, you will also have a ‘General Member’ role. The General Committee Member is part of the Management Committee making effective decisions for the sustainability of the library, taking part in fundraising activities and being part of the Toy Library Community.
The role of a committee member is to participate at committee meetings and offer help and support to any tasks that need completing. The Committee meets at least 8 times per year, during term time. There is no obligation to volunteer in the library itself, but it would be a big help.
Responsibilities of this role include: • Coming to meetings on time • Being attentive and well-prepared • Respecting disagreement without personalizing the debate • Being an active participant in decision making • Approving the annual budget • Reviewing & monitoring the performance • Ensuring major risks are identified and managed • Participating in the organisation of fundraising events and the event itself • Participating in library administrative tasks
People who volunteer with us do get 50% off the annual membership – so instead of $60 per year it is $30 per year.
The Hills Community Toy Library: • is an inexpensive way of accessing a wide variety of toys, • has quality educational items for loan, • offers a range of items covering all stages of growth and development, • provides an opportunity to meet other parents and caregivers, and • is an avenue for individuals to volunteer in their community.

Toy Library can assist with obtaining a National Police Check.

* As each organisation provides different levels/types of insurance, volunteers are reminded to check with the organisation as to the type of insurance provided for volunteers (e.g. Volunteer Personal Accident Insurance).
* Best practice volunteer involvement recommends that a volunteer role should not be more than 15-16 hours per week.
The expectation of this role is to volunteer for the 'opening' times. We have no strict rules about the number of sessions but aim for you to commit to two sessions per term.
