Victoria Virtual Volunteering

Environment & Conservation One off - a few hours

About this opportunity

This project is powered by Conservation Volunteers Australia, supporting everyday people to take action on one of the world’s most solvable environmental issues – ocean litter.

We’re committed to reducing the amount of plastic litter entering our creeks, rivers and oceans and reducing harm to the animals that call these places home. Plastic is around 60-95% of the litter in our waterways and oceans, and causes a wide range of issues in these environments.

We will be working along 8 major waterways around Australia the Port Phillip Bay from Port Melbourne - Mount Martha and along the banks of Elster Creek, Kananook Creek and Paterson River to tackle ocean litter.

You can conduct your own litter clean up in any of these areas!

We will be running clean ups at certain sites within these areas until the end of June and virtual volunteering opportunities are also available. Contact JHorton@cva.org.au for more information.

So get involved and help us to remove ocean litter from the sea, all the way back to the source!

A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER:

  • Please send me an email after conducting your clean up letting me know: The beach/creek you cleaned, your most found item and a screenshot of the Litter Stopper App.
  • Please take photos of your clean up and the litter you collect, and send that through to me as well!

If you have any questions: Send me an email JHorton@cva.org.au

This project received grant funding from the Australian Government.
