Companion Support Volunteers
About this opportunity
STAR Community Services is looking for volunteers who can offer regular companionship to our seniors, for activities such as:
- having a coffee and chat
- reading a book
- assisting with arts and crafts, and hobbies such as gardening, knitting, sewing
- accompanying them on social visits and outings such as to the movies, library, cooking classes, going for a walk etc
- simply spending quality time together regularly.
Social interaction helps to improve people's mental and physical health. Your companionship will help our seniors to continue to live independently, but not feel alone.
Volunteer attributes include:

- ability to respect a person's cultural and spiritual needs
- ability to trouble shoot and think on your feet.
This role offers flexible hours and a supportive and friendly volunteer environment. Full training is providing.
This is a Centrelink approved activity.

Driver's Licence (C) . Driver's Licence . Flu vaccination . NDIS screening check . Others .
Volunteers will also need to have, or to obtain current First Aid and CPR qualifications. STAR will cover the cost of this.
Applicants must possess at least a Green Provisional Driver's Licence.
From a few hours a week or more.

ReimbursementATO reimbursement rate of 85cents p/km for own vehicle + $15 per half/$30 per full day
