About this opportunity

St John’s Uniting Church Op Shop is the little shop with a BIG heart which has been a fixture in Elsternwick for over 20 years.

We welcome a variety of people as volunteers and encourage everyone to contribute their knowledge and skills to assist in the ongoing improvement in the functioning of the Op Shop.

Specific tasks include: • Welcome customers to the shop and direct them to required parts of the shop • Assist with sorting, preparing, pricing and presenting goods • Cleaning of shop and displays • Conduct sale using electronic point of sale • Adhere to the defined workplace health and safety and injury management • Contribute thoughts to the Manager for ongoing improvements

No specific experience is required but an enjoyment of being part of our welcoming team is a given.

We aim to encourage volunteers to share the knowledge and skills with the rest of the team. If people have specific skills in retail or online sales we would aim to make use of them. We offer training in all tasks as required.

Volunteers are required for shifts of 2 to 4 hours. The shop is open Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm.

No Police Check required. Volunteers 18 years and over may apply.
