Keep In Touch Volunteer - Offenders Aid and Rehabilitation Services (OARS)

Are you looking at making a positive difference and have good administrative skills?

This Home Detention Integrated Support Services Program (HISSP) Keep in Touch (KIT) volunteer position requires a person with:

  • strong communication skills
  • a confident phone presence
  • strong attention to detail

Duties will include phone contact with HISSSP clients & administrative duties.

Responsibilities include:

  • Making telephone calls in line with provided weekly call list.
  • Enter information into the internal data base in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Keep accurate records of all interactions and attempted interactions as directed.
  • Alert KIT Coordinator or HISSP Team Manager of clients requiring additional support.
  • Any other duties as directed by the KIT Coordinator or HISSP Manager.


Additional requirements

Covid-19 vaccination . National Police Certificate *.

*You will need to display a non-judgemental attitude to people within the community and offenders in particular.
* Have empathy for people experiencing isolation, marginalisation and stigma associated with their offending history.
* Written and verbal communication skills.
* A strong ability to utilise verbal communication over the phone.
* Treat clients and colleagues in a respectful and supportive manner.
* Empathise with disadvantaged people in general
* Ideally an understanding of community, personal and/or social issues that affect those who have offended.
* Ability to work in a busy office environment.
* To use initiative, discretion and judgement in carrying out duties.
* Have an appreciation of and commitment to responding positively to people from a range of cultures, social backgrounds and disadvantages.
* Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills.
* Interact with clients with challenging behaviors.
* Ability to maintain client confidentiality and signing a Confidentiality Agreement.

* Be detail oriented and have highly developed organisational skills.

Ideally you will have experience in:
* administrative tasks
* data input.
* a phone oriented role.

Completion of a satisfactory Police check is required.

OARS requires all staff and volunteers to be double vaccinated and boosters complete.

2 x Covid-19 Vaccinations + Booster complete
