Lanyon Food Hub Volunteer

About this opportunity

The Lanyon Food Hub operates from YWCA Canberra's Mura Lanyon Youth and Community Centre (MLYCC) located in Conder ACT. We are seeking Volunteers to be part of a rotating roster on Wednesday and Thursdays to deliver the service alongside staff.

The Lanyon Food Hub is open on Thursday mornings from 9:30am to 2pm.

Additional requirements

Heavy Lifting . National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.

• Follow Lanyon Food Hub stock management procedures, including, checking orders, unpacking orders, record donations, restock shelves, fridges and freezers
• Food handling (including fruit and vegetables, meat, canned and frozen goods
• Cleaning and tidying of the store (including sweeping, mopping, wiping down shelves and cleaning out fridges)
• Emptying Lanyon Food Hub Bins and composting
• Communicating and interacting with clients of the program
• Collecting food, clothing and toy donations
• Basic administrative tasks such as laminating, typing, photocopying and printing
• Ensuring that all food products meets the Australian Food Safety Standards
• Undertaking other duties directed by the MLYCC Manager
• Undertake relevant training as identified

• Reaching up, twisting and bending
• Walk short distances repeatedly

Time Required

Be part of a roster for Wednesday • 9am to 1pm • 1pm to 5pm • 7pm to 8pm (every 2nd week) Thursday • 8:30am to 11:30am • 11:30am to 2:30pm
