About this opportunity

The Cancer Care Centre is a community-based organisation providing complementary care services in the support of people affected by cancer. In a warm, friendly and non-clinical environment, the client receives the ongoing attention of our experienced client service volunteers.

The board are looking for skills and expertise in the following areas.

  • Health, medical, complimentary therapy areas
  • Experience and or knowledge of Not-for-Profit charity associations
  • Experience working with culturally & linguistically diverse groups

The Board Member/s will be required to attend an interview, provide a resume and undertake an induction for the position. The position requires that members sign a Director’s Declaration.

Driver's Licence (C) . National Police Certificate *.

* As each organisation provides different levels/types of insurance, volunteers are reminded to check with the organisation as to the type of insurance provided for volunteers (e.g. Voluntary Workers Personal Accident Insurance).
* Best practice volunteer involvement recommends that a volunteer role should not be more than 15-16 hours per week.

* May be arranged via the Organisation. Details to be provided on expression of interest.
Time Required

• Approximate total time 8 hours per month. • Board and or sub-committee meetings held every 6 weeks, either face to face or via zoom. • 2.5 hour board meeting plus reading and minimal event attendance. • Currently board meetings held on Thursday commencing at 6.00pm. • Centre events or activities where board members support staff – various times • Annual General Meeting in October, November annually
