Bus Driver - Townsville
About this opportunity
We are looking for two or three people who have a little spare time on their hands and would like to commit some time every so often to driving our bus and taking our residents out. We can design outings around the availability of the volunteers, which we would advertise to our residents ahead of time. It could be that you only wish to do a day outing once per month? Great! Or you would be happy to do certain outings every so often? Great! We can figure it out once we know your interests and time availability.
The volunteer will need to register with us and undergo a one hour induction as well as have a clear police check; that we will pay for. Fuel is paid and the bus is adequately insured. Then it's just a matter of checking the names on and off of the bus and ideally participating in the event with the residents.
The government has recently changed vaccine requirements for aged care volunteers and workers. Volunteers must have at least one COVID 19 vaccination shot by 17th September. Additionally, they have strongly recommended disability support workers/volunteers get their COVID shots, and will consider making it mandatory by October 31st.
We have an automatic Toyota Coaster bus (19 seats) which we would like to use more than what we do currently. As a not for profit organisation, we must rely on volunteer bus drivers to assist us with taking our residents out and about.
Outings we have considered can be every so often, fortnightly, monthly or for special events, such as:
• Day trips to neighboring towns. • Day outings to events, e.g. Rollingstone Pineapple Festival etc. • Fortnightly or monthly Sunday morning trips to Cotter’s Market. • Evening outings to Cowboys games, Casino, Townsville Eats, Cinema etc. • An afternoon at the Art Gallery or similar. • Regular trips to the Men’s Shed or other community based organisations. • Occasional evening to RSL/Cowboys League/Brothers League Clubs.

Covid-19 vaccination . Driver's Licence (C) . Driver's Licence (LR) . Flu vaccination . National Police Certificate *.
