Scout Leader

Young People Regular - more than 6 months Garran ACT

About this opportunity

Scouting is a worldwide youth movement with the aim of supporting young people in their development so they may play a constructive role in society. Scouting in the ACT has 32 Scout Groups in the region. There are hundreds of children taking part in Scouting activities every day and they need adult volunteer support to guide them along the way. Our volunteers make a big difference to the lives of our youth members and find that Scouting enables them to give back to the community and also helps them develop personally and professionally.

Adults members can become leaders in the different sections / age groups: Joeys, aged 6 – 8 years old Cubs, aged 7.5 – 11 years old Scouts, aged 10.5 – 15 years old Venturers, 14.5 – 18 years old Rovers, 17.5 – 25 years old Group Leader – Manages the group, looks over the committee members and the different sections.

Leaders need to be motivated individuals with a commitment to providing varied, exciting and dynamic programs for their Scout Group. Scouts ACT helps Leaders deliver on that commitment by providing training and support in all aspects of Scouting, youth leadership, programming and safety. Leader training is provided through the Scouts Australia Institute of Training, which is accredited to award nationally-recognised VET qualifications in Leadership and Management.

The benefits of Volunteering with the Scouts include contributing to your local community, challenging yourself, learning new Skills and having fun.
