Ward 2A Volunteers - Lyell McEwin Hospital
About this opportunity
Ward 2A is a 29 bed General Medical Unit but also home to our Acute Care of the Elderly patient cohort. We see many patients with severe Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD) and some who are stranded in the hospital for long periods at a time. Volunteers can play an important and active role in various ways: providing companionship and friendly visits taking inpatients out for a walk and engaging them in activities that may be meaningful to them. They can also support staff and the patients by assisting in general duties within the Ward including re-stocking, organising and disinfecting diversional resources and welcoming and directing visitors to the Ward.
