Bush Dance Helper

About this opportunity

Montmorency Community Group (MCG) need volunteers to join a small and enthusiastic team of volunteers to help plan, organise and carry out their annual “sustainable” bush dance in Montmorency. Meet like minded people and work in a friendly team of volunteers. New volunteers would attend planning meetings leading up to the event.

The event is planned for first half of 2021(date TBA). The specific role is flexible, depending on volunteer preferences.

Depending on interest, volunteer tasks may include:

  • planning,
  • ticket sales,
  • promoting the dance,
  • collecting raffle prizes,
  • moving furniture and decorating hall,
  • meeting and greeting,
  • MCing,
  • organising supper; and
  • set up & cleaning up (decorating hall, setting up furniture setting out supper and drinks, washing up and cleaning the hall). Tasks are shared around, depending on interests, abilities and time available. Principles of sustainablility are followed as far as possible. Opportunity to learn dances in a social atmosphere with people of all ages

No particular skills are required, as the volunteer would contribute according to their own interests, skills and time available.


Additional requirements

A knowledge of or interest in sustainability and a desire to be involved in your local community. No specific skills required- just an interest in organising social events for the local community, happy to learn and work cooperatively in a team. Enjoy meeting people of all ages. Any relevant experience or skills (e.g. kitchen skills, social media,
team work, event organisation) are a bonus and are most welcome.
Note- no experience of dancing is required.

Time Required

3 to 8 hours on the day of the dance. Variable time prior to the event for meetings and preparations- depending on volunteer's availability.
