About this opportunity
Ocean Mind is a not-for-profit organization running Surf Therapy programs for young people aged 8-18yrs who may experience mental health issues, social isolation or disabilities in the Bellarine and Surf Coast area. Our programs are free of cost - which is where our incredible volunteer team comes in!
Ocean Mind Drivers pick up participants from their homes, drive them to the beach for the program, then return them home safely after the program. The programs last 2 hours and drivers have the opportunity to help out (on land or in the water) or spend the 2 hours how you like! The programs are delivered on the weekends (10:00am-12:00pm) or (2:00pm-4:00pm) in both Ocean Grove and Anglesea and participants could be transported anywhere between the Corio area to Torquay.
The driver position is loads of fun and we guarantee you'll leave the day feeling energized, while making a difference in a young person's life. If you have some time on the weekend to support Ocean Mind, please get in contact.
The cost for bus hire and/or the use of your own vehicle is covered by Ocean Mind.
Additional requirements
Driver's Licence (C) . National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.
* Some experience working with young people (preferably professional experience)
* Must have Comprehensive Car Insurance
Shift would involve picking up participants from home, driving to the beach. Once at the beach you have free time for 2 hours (10am - 12pm) or (2pm - 4pm)before returning the participants home. Approx: 3 to 4 hours on the weekend
