About this opportunity

Community visitors are volunteers who visit supported accommodation facilities for people who have a disability and/or mental illness.

They visit and talk to residents and staff. They identify issues of concern and also good practices. Together with their visiting partner, they write a report detailing their observations.


Additional requirements

Driver's Licence (C) . National Police Certificate *.

An interest in and commitment to the rights of people with a disability.

The ability to promote the dignity of residents.

Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills are required.

The ability to contribute to a written report about the visit.

Time Required

Approx. 2 hours per week

Training

1 day induction, 10 hours supervised visits 1 further day of training in Disability or Mental Health

Reimbursement

Travel to attend training, meetings and to visit accomodation facilities is reimbursed.
