Connected Communities Inc. / Jesmond Neighbour Aid

Connected Communities Inc. (CCI) is located in Newcastle NSW and is a multi-service not for profit organisation. CCI is based at the Jesmond Neighbourhood Centre and we aim to serve our local community across the Western part of Newcastle. CCI provides information to residents about groups and services you may require and we are funded by the government to carry out community development, adolescent counseling and services for the elderly.

Jesmond Neighbour Aid (JNA) is a program run by CCI which began in June 1990 and is funded under the Home and Community Care (HACC) program. Our first program was the Jesmond Friendship Club and initially the service only provided a weekly Day Centre service from the Jesmond Neighbourhood Centre, but has now expanded to include the following services:

TRANSPORT ASSISTANT: Provides transport assistance to Neighbour Aid clients for attendance at medical or hospital appointments, legal appointments or to social support programs such as Jesmond Friendship Club.

SHOPPING ASSISTANT: Provides assistance to JNA clients either by accompanying them on shopping excursions or shopping on behalf of the client at a local shopping centre.

FRIENDSHIP CLUB: A safe, friendly environment in which clients are able to meet, attend social outings and socialise with others in their local community.

DAY CENTRE: A safe, friendly environment in which clients are able to meet and socialise with others in their local community.

DOMESTIC ASSISTANCE: Deliver quality domestic assistance to Frail Aged clients in their home (paid positions).
