About Sailability WA

Sailability WA is hosted by Royal Perth Yacht Club and provides social sailing which offers people with disabilities the opportunity to sail regardless of their level of ability, skill, or personal circumstance. The program offers social sailing in small dinghies or larger keel boats during the week. Elite sailors including para-sailors and the Blind Sailing Team use our facilities over the week-end. The programs are run by volunteers who can be shore-based or boat based depending on experience and desire. On-shore folk meet and greet participants with disabilities (and their supporters) and help get them ready for their sailing experience; they escort participants to the sailing crafts and help them board the vessels, hoisting participants from wheelchairs into yachts if necessary. They may also assist in rigging dinghies and packing away. Those on the boats need some experience of sailing or be willing to learn by being mentored. We we do ask is that you are reliable, flexible, good-natured, patient and have a sense of humour.
