About NSW State Emergency Service - Holroyd

Can you see yourself in orange assisting in either (or both) the Operations Room or out in a Response vehicle?

The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) is an emergency and rescue service dedicated to assisting the community in storms, floods and tsunamis . It is made up almost entirely of volunteers, with 228 units located throughout NSW.

The units comprised of approximately 10,000 volunteer members.

Here at Holroyd, we have some 50 members who are primarily responsible for emergency response within the following areas within the Cumberland Council Local Government Area...Guildford West, Merrylands, Pemulwuy, Greystanes, Woodpark, Girraween, Pendle Hill, Wentworthville and Westmead. These members also, and once trained, able to be called to assist areas outside it's legislated boundary.

There are many roles in the NSW SES to which you, as a volunteer can choose to be trained in; roles such as administration, planning, storm and flood response operations, land search operations, media, community engagement...as well as other worthwhile roles.
