Palms Australia engages in global development to enthuse, recruit, prepare and support Australians qualified and skilled to tackle the most pressing needs identified by communities and their organisations seeking to reduce poverty. The core of the activity is locally initiated and owned development.
Australians who volunteer are matched with requests that provide the best opportunity to build the capacity of individuals and organisations through knowledge and skill exchange. Requesting communities often mention the greater value of this over buildings, equipment and goods, as these can often be items that outsiders perceive them to be "missing" and frequently require processes and technology that don't complement the strengths of a community organisation or program.
