Volunteer Watering Assistant

About this opportunity

This position will assist Friends of Clontarf Hill to continue regular care for new plantings on site from November to April.

The volunteer will work with 3 -5 other people to carry out fortnightly watering on a revegetated area of an urban bushland site.

(Optional) A specific volunteer role - this person is required to have 4-wheel drive and be willing to pick up a water trailer from Bibra Lake and return it, as part of this volunteer position.

Please note, that the site is very steep and the ground is quite rocky in parts, so may not be suitable for some people who have knee/hip issues.

Key Tasks

*Collect the water trailer - 10 mins from site. (optional) *Help fill the water tank on the trailer *Work with other volunteers to water seedlings using a long hose from the tank on the trailer *Return the trailer to the storage area - 10 mins from site. (optional)

About Friends of Clontarf Hill The Friends of Clontarf Hill Inc. (FoCH) were established in 1992 and have been actively engaged in maintaining and enhancing the conservation values of Clontarf Hill for over 25 years.
Clontarf Hill is part of an ecological linkage known locally as the envisaged “Cockburn Community Wildlife Corridor”, that connects the coast to the Beeliar wetlands. Regular community engagement activities conducted by FoCH include: Planting, weeding, watering and cleaning up the site. In 2021 and 2023 the group successfully applied for and received grants from State NRM to undertake woody weed control and revegetation of the site.

18+, due to the nature of the volunteer role and use of water pumps etc

Time Required

Fortnightly for 4 hours (every second Sunday of each month (Nov-April). Preferred availability minimum once a month, for 6 months volunteering, from November to April.
