Companionship volunteering in Bacchus Marsh

Seniors & Aged Care Regular - less than 6 months Bacchus Marsh VIC

About this opportunity

VMCH is currently welcoming volunteers to participate in varied lifestyle activities at VMCH, there are numerous entertainment and lifestyle activities for you to choose from or if you would prefer to engage one or two residents with a more personalised activity, you would provide a wonderful interlude which will enhance a resident's day.

With Volunteers assistance, the lifestyle team can provide a wonderful selection of activities every day. We don’t need you to have experience we just want you to be an active part of our team with ideas and enthusiasm and engage with residents to provide fun and entertainment.

Volunteers often like to prepare activities or assist us to offer gardening or music, word games, lots of craft or gentle exercises disguised as dancing or walks through our gardens. Having a chat over a cuppa or reading aloud the paper, sorting out the newspapers and running the footy tipping with or for residents, enjoy walking in our garden or sitting quietly with residents through chapel are some of the many things you could enjoy.

We especially would like people who would be willing to bring well-mannered dogs along, or people who love books and are happy to read to residents, whether its the paper or a Book or chat about books, to apply.

People who choose to volunteer with VMCH are. • those who love to chat – you need to be able to keep a conversation going • Able to work independently/unsupervised

You will create new special memories for yourself and for residents who benefit from your gift of time.

We aim to be flexible enough to fit into your schedule, however forming connections does take time, so consider the benefits to longer-term volunteering. Let us know your availability and we will try our best to match you with an activity that fits your preferences.

Volunteering even a small amount of time, provides connection and companionship, which can have a major and direct impact on the lives of others. You could be a student, looking for work in the industry, a retiree or working fulltime.
