About this opportunity

Alley Katz Australia Org. operates as a Registered Animal Welfare Charity in Melbourne (Victoria, Australia) geographically in the North West Suburbs.

To be successful in rehoming of unwanted, unowned colony, street cats which can make a world of difference to the human soul, we are trying to establish a broad network of foster carers who can provide enrichment, love and affection, accommodation, food and grooming to cats with different temperaments for an agreed amount of time. Your input will make the cat more likely to be adopted, which is the outcome we are looking for. Some of these moggies may be immune compromised cats that can still lead long lives with suitable support, which is usually gradual. Ideally you won't have other cats around the home but specifically you cannot have foster cats from other rescues at the same time when you foster for us.

Of course, you may want to keep the fostered cat; in that case we can come to a favourable arrangement.

During the foster care agreement period, for any particular fostered cat, Alley Katz Australia will pay for the cat's veterinary care through its network of participating veterinary practitioners. You would be responsible for enrichment, feeding, grooming, accommodation and natural affection for the term of the foster care agreement.

Foster carers should be within 1 hr drive of Melton Vic. Suggest your location for consideration, if your location is not listed.

It is common for some rescued cats to be diagnosed with FIV, which can be transmitted to un-vaccinated healthy cats through deep bites. If you have cats not vaccinated against FIV , and they are not FIV positive, we recommend vaccination subject to veterinary guidance. Cat's with FIV should be kept inside for the foster care period.

Our foster cats must be kept indoors and in local government areas with curfews, you must adhere to curfew requirements.

The cats in your foster car may be registered with your local council.
