The Helmsman Project

The Helmsman Project is an innovative NFP located in Mosman, Sydney. We deliver evidence based coaching and adventure education programs to Year 9 students from communities affected by disadvantage. The program targets young people who, for a variety of reasons, may not otherwise have the support they need to unlock their potential. These young people are often at risk of disengaging from school or otherwise becoming involved in negative circumstances.

The aim of our program is to build life skills in the young people that we work with, specifically: hope, resilience and self-regulation. With these skills young people are better equipped to deal with life's challenges, have a stronger sense of self belief and empathy for others and can see a brighter future for themselves.
