About this opportunity
Volunteer tutors provide free one-to-one assistance to adults wanting to improve their reading, writing, spelling, maths and basic computer skills. After participating in a stimulating and thoroughly enjoyable training program, volunteer tutors are matched with a student who they meet 1 to 2 hours per week at a public venue, such as the local library or community centre. Tutoring sessions focus on student's individual specific needs and goals.
No formal teaching qualifications needed. Volunteer tutors must have good communication and be able to share their knowledge of English literacy, numeracy and basic computer skills. Volunteers need to be patient, non-judgemental and have a genuine interest in helping others.
Volunteer benefits include free training, resources and ongoing support from central office and a local coordinator.

Additional requirements
National Police Certificate *.
Minimum Year 10 education level or equivalent.
Good knowledge of English literacy, numeracy and basic computer skills.
Two to three hours per week in tutoring and lesson preparation.
