Volunteer with Us - Early Years Puppetry Program

Arts & Culture Regular - more than 6 months Fremantle WA

About this opportunity

Looking for a meaningful way to make a difference and support your community? Spare Parts Puppet Theatre shares the joy and magic of puppetry with audiences of all ages. And they couldn't do it without the help of amazing volunteers!   Spare Parts is on the hunt for volunteers for their Puppet Playtime Program!   Puppet Playtime gives children aged 3 to 5 the opportunity to engage in a new experience of storytelling and puppetry.   Each session features a popular children’s book, with an acclaimed WA performer presenting the story in their unique performance style.  This can include puppetry, musical accompaniment, object theatre, movement and dance, and more. The world of puppetry is vast, and attendees will learn about a new element of puppetry each month. Each session, children will craft a puppet designed by our talented puppetry professionals.

Volunteers will help welcome families, set up and support craft activities, and asist in the overall delivery of the story. No prior experience is necessary – Spare Parts will provide you with training. All you need is a friendly attitude, good communication skills, and a willingness to work as part of a team. You'll need to have a working with children's check, as the safety of their young audience members is Spare Parts’ top priority. Don't worry if you don't have one already - they can help you through the process.   In addition to the satisfaction of helping others and supporting the Arts, volunteering as an at Spare Parts means you watch unique and exciting puppetry performances for free. Plus, you'll have the chance to be a part of their vibrant volunteer community - a diverse group of students, parents, retirees, and everyone in between.
