The Hyland House Respite Centre in Petrie is currently looking for volunteers for our Hobby Shed to assist older persons and people with a disability in making items with wood. This includes painting and glueing. No special skills are needed, just patience and an interest in wood crafts.

These need maintenance, preservation, restoration, or rebuilding depending on their condition. We welcome anyone with the skills and/or aptitude to join the team who care for the collection. The collection ranges from large steam engines to small items such as hand-cranked seeders and butter churns.

The duties of this opportunity are to assist with the maintenance of the Puffing Billy Railways' buildings and infrastructure in accordance with the organisations training regime and safe operating procedures. You may also engage visitors in conversations about Puffing Billy Railway and provide assistance to visitors to enhance their visit.

The person must follow COVID-19 Safety Procedures at all times and would be required to prepare morning or afternoon tea refreshments along with special event lunches and barbecues and serve as per COVID-19 safety requirements.
