FriendLine is a free phone service for those experiencing loneliness or social isolation. FriendLine operates 10.00am to 8.00pm 7 days a week and volunteers are needed to contribute 2-3 hours per week (or more if you like). Our volunteers don't need any special qualifications, just an interest in talking to a broad range of people and desire to help people feel more connected.

Volunteers work in partnership with paid staff of the ward or community, under the supervision of Team Leader/NUM/Office Manager to enhance the quality of Care experience in a “non - clinical holistic way” for patients as well as the relatives and friends of the patients.

Modbury Hospital Guide Volunteers are based at the Hospital main entrance and assist patients and visitors with directions to their destination. Guide volunteers must be interested in interacting with the public; be able to deal with occasional stressful situations; be physically fit enough to stand and walk much of the shift. A Guide can be rostered Mon – Fri and shifts can vary from 4 hours to a full day. Training and induction is provided

MDFA's Peer Support Groups provide a safe and welcoming space for people living with aged-related macular degeneration to share their stories and ask questions of their peers. The Facilitator role is well suited to someone with good communications skills and confidence in public speaking. Ideally you will have experience facilitating a peer support group and/or demonstrate the ability to lead a balanced discussion. Personal experience with macular disease is desirable, not necessary.

Helping our older members of community stay connected and happy. We are looking for volunteers to be Community Visitors for Diversitat’s 'Hola Amigo' Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) program. The volunteer/visitor will regularly visit an older person in their home; to help reduce the feelings of isolation and loneliness, making a real positive difference to a person’s life. 20 visits are expected, to enable a friendship to flourish.
