The Interchange Outer East (IOE) Host Program involves carefully matching a host volunteer with a child/young adult based on mutual liking and acceptance, shared interests and availability, to share time with on a regular basis from just a few hours each month. The young person is welcomed and cared for in the hosts home and supported to make genuine friendships and social connections throughout the hosting experience.

The Volunteers primary role is to assist the participants to ride a wave! Each participant has a different disability which can either be physical, intellectual or both. Disabled Surfers Association - SA Branch assist them to enjoy the experience of surfing & ensure they stay safe & injury free in the process. A surfing background is an advantage for volunteers but not essential. However you need to be a physically fit, aged 17+ & be comfortable in the water for periods of up to 2 hours.

Not only do you get to experience the joy of looking after an adorable puppy for about 12 months – without any of the associated costs, you are assisting someone who is blind to live the life to the full by volunteering your time and care.
