Down Syndrome Queensland (DSQ) is organising for our young adults with Down syndrome to attend our Challenge Weekend Camps throughout the year and require volunteers to assist us with this event. Guide and Assistance Dogs change lives. It is the independence and freedom offered by these dogs to our clients that keeps us going. Our Puppy Raisers look after an 8 to 10 week old puppy, in their home, for a period of 6 to 12 months This requires a degree of physical fitness, which includes being able to negotiate steps, walk 3-5km per day and frequent bending and lifting (up to 20kg). Puppy Raisers expose our puppies to different environments including public transport, shopping centres etc.

Riding for the Disabled SA provides horse riding & related activities for people with a disability aged between three and ninety years! RDASA is seeking volunteers to assist with 'Session Support' which includes: *preparing horses prior to the arrival of participants, *leading horses during sessions, *supporting participants during sessions, *assisting with preparation of activities for centre programs, *and assorted activities related to care & welfare of horses.

Assist a young person with a disability to access recreational activities for a few hours or one day on a regular basis, at least once each month.

The Interchange Outer East (IOE) Host Program involves carefully matching a host volunteer with a child/young adult based on mutual liking and acceptance, shared interests and availability, to share time with on a regular basis from just a few hours each month. The young person is welcomed and cared for in the hosts home and supported to make genuine friendships and social connections throughout the hosting experience.

The Volunteers primary role is to assist the participants to ride a wave! Each participant has a different disability which can either be physical, intellectual or both. Disabled Surfers Association - SA Branch assist them to enjoy the experience of surfing & ensure they stay safe & injury free in the process. A surfing background is an advantage for volunteers but not essential. However you need to be a physically fit, aged 17+ & be comfortable in the water for periods of up to 2 hours.
