For many MOW recipients, the volunteer is the only person they see that day, so the service also plays a vital role in social connection and monitoring wellbeing of older people. The volunteer will assist with the early literacy program Paint Bunbury REaD which encourages everyone to "talk, read, sing, rhyme, yarn, draw and play with children every day from birth. The volunteer's roles will include monitoring the book swap boxes, creating some resources and assisting at story time events.

Kororoit Creek Neighbourhood House is looking for volunteers who can read with students, help with their homework, run games or activities (sport, art, music, science etc) or even just help prepare healthy snacks. Our homework club works with primary school children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in Sunshine, Albion and surrounding suburbs to support their learning and confidence.

Do you enjoy having a chat and sharing a cuppa? You might like to visit and befriend a person living in an aged care home. If it suits you both, you could take the resident out or for a walk in the grounds. Spend time sharing interests, listening & talking.
