A Consumer Advisor is a member of our community who can voice a lived experience of health care at Western Health. They participate in committees, focus groups, projects and a range of other activities to ensure the patient perspective is always considered. Consumer Advisors are part of the Western Health community and should reflect the diversity of our community

The helpline was established in 2009, and is the only such service in Australia helping people living with pain. Guides have a personal connection to chronic pain and are able to support callers with chronic pain.

The co-facilitator for the "Everybody is Welcome" Pain Support Group can be located anywhere in Australia. The group is a safe space for to help participants to share their experiences of living with chronic pain, promoting self-management techniques, reducing isolation and assisting with health system navigation.

Kitchen Volunteers generally work once a week on one of the following shifts: • Breakfast: 7:30 am to 9:30 am • Lunch: 10:30 am to 1:30 pm • Dinner: 4:45 pm to 7:00 pm

Family Drug Support (FDS) offers a 24/7 National Support Line for families & carers supporting someone with substance use issues. Volunteers are trained in the Family Drug Support model to offer non-judgmental support to reduce the isolation and stigma that people experience.

Since its inception, the “Ben’s Place” pantry has grown to become a lifeline for countless individuals and families facing financial hardships, providing them with access to nutritious food and essential supplies. Over 400 households visit the pantry each week, including pensioners, people with disabilities, veterans, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, families with young children and people who are homeless. WE NEED YOU TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Volunteer sandwich and salad makers are an important member of our Volunteer Coffee Shop team. The volunteer Coffee Shop is located on level 2 and is our busiest outlet which caters to many staff, patients, and visitors to the hospital. If you like a fast-paced environment and learning new skills, then this is the place for you.

The Volunteer Service for the Flinders Medical Centre operates a very popular BBQ services located at the Courtyard on Level 2 at Flinders Medical Centre. The volunteers need a fit able-bodied person that would be willing to assist them in the clean up at the end of the day. Shift requirement is: Wednesday to Friday 1 pm - 3 pm.
