PCYC Queensland’s Braking the Cycle program supports young people to complete their mandatory 100 hours of supervised driving in a safe and suitable vehicle with a volunteer mentor. The vehicles are kindly donated by the community. Working alongside our truck drivers assisting in tasks involving collection of donations, ie clothing bags, books & other items being donated. Some lifting involved up to maximum 10kg. Assist and direct incoming donations to the nominated sorting area; remove and change rubbish bales and white bags; assist with furniture and furniture floor displays (where applicable),sweeping and general tidying of sorting area. Volunteers required to assist with transporting the Friends of the Community Food and Coffee vans to venues and events then returning to them to their headquarters in Spearwood. All funds raised are all returned to the community through Aged, Disabled and Disadvantaged.

Do you have a love of trains? We are looking for versatile volunteers and have several different positions to fill: Driver / Guard / Signaller / Maintenance Crew and the Kiosk. In each of these positions you can also assist with roles such as customer service, public direction, ticket collection, signal operation, guard, maintenance crew etc. and eventually the elevation to 'Train Driver' for those who are interested.

Do you enjoy having a chat and sharing a cuppa? You might like to visit and befriend a person living in an aged care home. If it suits you both, you could take the resident out or for a walk in the grounds. Spend time sharing interests, listening & talking.
