A Consumer Advisor is a member of our community who can voice a lived experience of health care at Western Health. They participate in committees, focus groups, projects and a range of other activities to ensure the patient perspective is always considered. Consumer Advisors are part of the Western Health community and should reflect the diversity of our community

Could you help make someone's day a bit brighter? Cessnock Volunteers provide care and comfort to patients, their carers and families when they need it most. As well as supporting staff, you will be helping to help build a better patient experience.

MDFA's Peer Support Groups provide a safe and welcoming space for people living with aged-related macular degeneration to share their stories and ask questions of their peers. The Peer Support Facilitator role is well suited to someone with good communications skills and confidence in public speaking. Ideally you will have experience facilitating a peer support group and/or demonstrate the ability to lead a balanced discussion.

Promote RFDS and help at fundraising events. Events include market days, open gardens, raffles and occasional special events. Cooking, making savories and cakes, supper provision at old time dance once a month. Staff information and raffle ticket stalls and general assistance at events with a great team.

Our consumer representatives represent the views of consumers and carers and participate in the review of policies, procedures, publications etc.

Consumer Advisors share their experiences as users of the health service, provide advice on consumer and carer issues and become active partners in design, planning and evaluation of the health service.
