On Sunday 11 August Muscular Dystrophy will stage Run for Strength - a fun run/walk around Princes Park. We need volunteers to act as marshalls around the course making sure participants dont go the wrong way. It is an easy job but one that is crucial to the success of the event. Its a wonderful celebration of able bodied people coming together with those with a disability.

This extends their social network, offers them new opportunities and experiences, and provides a much needed break for their carer. Some volunteers have the young person stay at their place once a month. This also provides the young persons carer with some respite and support.

Volunteer with the Interchange Network of disability service providers and buddy up with a young person living with disability to spend regular time with them sharing hobbies or interests, going to the movies or a football game, or just hanging out watching your favourite shows at home.

We are looking for presenters and technical operators in be a part of our Radio team. Vision Australia radio put print to audio, and ensure all members of the community have access to community information and news. Volunteers will receive full training to undertake the role, as well as mentoring from fellow radio volunteers.

Would you like to help facilitate the coffee shop? Juniors have started a coffee shop at the sailing Club between 8:00 and 10:00 am on a Saturday morning. They need someone to: * facilitate & support these volunteers fund raising activity * open up at 7:30 am and help set up for trading * be the on-site Covid Marshall * support the juniors if any simple problems arise * meet and greet patrons, explaining our venture * meet with the juniors occasionally to brain storm ideas

Crossroads is a centre-based social engagement and capacity building program for adults living with a disability. The program is operating on most Fridays of the year, except public holidays and some Fridays during school holidays. For more information about the program visit crossroads.nu

It creates opportunity for people with disabilities to create social connections whilst exploring interests, encourages independence, and strengthens confidence within their local community.
