Jamie would like to connect with a confident person that will become a trusted friend and speak up for him when required. He needs an advocate with non-verbal communication skills. He lives in supported accommodation in Coolbinia. Jamie has an intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, is non-verbal and uses an eye gaze device to communicate.

Dave enjoys listening to music, playing the guitar, watching movies and is a footy fan. We are seeking a local caring community member to visit Dave on a weekly or fortnightly basis to hang out with him and make sure everything is going ok in his life.

We are seeking a confident and kind lady in the Thornlie area, to be a co-advocate to Gemma alongside her existing advocate. Gemma is a lovely lady in her 40’s with an intellectual disability. Gemma is sociable and likes to get out and about. She enjoys girl time and has a love for jewellery, nails and hair. She is non-verbal but has her own way of communicating. She has supportive staff in her group home that can help teach you these communication techniques.

Jodie is a cheerful and sociable lady in her early 60’s, living in Wilson. She has a mild intellectual disability and seeks an advocate to be her friend and enjoy regular social activities and outings. Jodie is an avid reader and Enid Blyton fan. Some of her paintings won awards at the “As We Are” art exhibition. Socially, Jodie likes music and dancing (adores ABBA), tenpin bowling and watching the West Coast Eagles. Coffee, chats, a bit of shopping and having a manicure are favourites too

Clarissa is a lovely 45-year-old who lives in Kelmscott with a mild intellectual disability. Clarissa could benefit with having an advocate who could assist her with general budgeting, Centrelink enquiries and just having someone who she feels she could call to have a chat with. She would benefit from having someone who could encourage and build her independence.

Margot is a chatty and sociable lady in her mid-40’s, living in Kelmscott. She has a mild intellectual disability and seeks an advocate to be her friend and confidante. Margot likes making jewellery and doing arts and crafts and would love to attend some classes. She would like some help with her budgeting. Margot likes going shopping, eating out and tenpin bowling and finds it hard to save money. She would like to save for a holiday and events like the Royal Show.

One of our friendly residents is looking for a Companion who speaks Italian. If you speak Italian, can spare some time and used to interact with Seniors, this is an opportunity for you to enrich their lives. You will be required to visit once a week. We are currently looking at a number of innovative ways to continue to keep our residents and customers active, socially engaged and connected with the wider community.

Inclusion Melbourne is funded to provide the Community Visitors Scheme (CVS). Our volunteers share stories, go for a stroll, have a cuppa, listen to music or play a board game with their match. Volunteers play a vital role in the life of a person living in an aged care home or their own home through ongoing friendship. Fully covid vaccinated, influenza vaccinated and a minimum 12 month/ongoing commitment is also required.
