Citizen Advocacy is seeking volunteer advocates based in the Perth area who want to make a difference in the life of someone with intellectual disability. As an advocate you will be well placed to assist in community inclusion and social acceptance by empowering the person with intellectual disability and helping them to engage with their local community.
Citizen Advocacy is seeking crisis advocates to assist with short-term advocacy roles addressing unforeseen or urgent matters in the life of a person with intellectual disability. A crisis advocate has the same qualities as a citizen advocate and is trained for the role. The crisis advocate is on hand to assist an existing advocate or the person they are supporting for a given period of time until a particular issue is resolved.
Jodie is a gentle and sociable lady in her early 60’s, living in Wilson. She seeks an advocate who shares some of her interests and is happy to spend some time with her having a chat or coffee. Jodie is an avid reader and loves crafts, especially weaving and painting. She won awards at the ‘As We Are’ art exhibition. She likes music (adores ABBA) and dancing, ten pin bowling and is a West Coast Eagles fan! Jodie also enjoys going shopping and a having a manicure as a special treat.

Mia lives in in Wilson. She is in her early 40’s with an intellectual disability and has a visual impairment. Mia is very sociable and likes meeting new people. She loves music and dancing and enjoys going out for lunch and coffee. An advocate could accompany Mia on outings and help build her confidence. Her visual impairment limits going out alone, and she would appreciate having a friend with her. Mia wants to retain her independence socially and feel connected with the community.
for Out for Australia - Mentoring & Advocacy
As the Mentoring Experience Officer, you will help us to improve the overall experience of our mentoring program from a participant’s perspective. As our program grows, we aim to enhance the start-to-end journey of our participants and ensure our mentors and mentees feel supported and engaged throughout their mentoring journeys.
The State Director is responsible for leading and managing the State Team. The State Director is a people manager who grows, equips, influences and empowers their team to drive OFA’s activities and programs in their state. The State Director works with their team to implement the OFA national strategy and report on state activities, primarily overseeing outreach and events within their state and collaborating with national mentor, communication and design teams.
Outreach at OFA encompasses connecting with key stakeholders in the LGBTQIA+ student community, building relationships, and raising awareness of the support OFA can offer LGBTQIA+ students as they transition into the workplace. The National Outreach Director will lead OFA’s outreach strategy, lead cross-cutting outreach projects, and support and mentor OFA’s Outreach Coordinators to connect with their student communities.
This is a leadership support and content coordination role within the Communications Team at Out For Australia, responsible for supporting the delivery of a full season of Out For Australia’s podcast - Out For You. You will work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer and National Media Director to plan, coordinate and deliver this season and future seasons of Out For You, including a focus on editing and producing episodes according to the Out For You podcast strategy.

We are looking for Events Coordinators with experience in (or a dedicated desire to develop skills in) events coordination, creative thinking and project management who will be responsible for leading at least 1-2 Out for Australia events per year in the state, or with the national team. You will work together in a small team, with team members rotating leading roles for each event.
