Members of Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney’s (LLH2HS’s) Community Crew can volunteer with one of Australia’s leading crisis-support and suicide-prevention organisation to help build resilience and increase safety in our community.

Our Cadet Program runs from April to October each year. It is open to kids between the age of 12 - 16. Cadets are trained in various facets of Firefighting and other skills. Teamwork and Communication are a big part of this program and we have had many of our Cadets stay on after turning 16 to become Active Volunteer Firefighters. Cadets may also have the opportunity to go on Camps run by the Brigade, DFES also give Cadets opportunities to go on camps.

This role will take responsibility for overseeing the deliveries and food collections including responsibility for food safety The role involves overseeing a team of volunteers who will pack, unpack food and may need to re-pack food into smaller units. Maroondah Winter Shelter provides a safe and warm place for homeless males to stay overnight during the winter months, 7 nights per week. Home cooked meals are provided. As a volunteer you would be making a difference to the lives of those who have been sleeping rough. Being able to listen, show care and treat our guests with dignity and compassion is what we ask for.

Can you help to heat up meals, serve meals or do dishes? Chat with guests and share a meal with them. Our guests are isolated or financially disadvantaged people who need some extra support with meals and being with community.

The role of Emergency Relief Volunteers is designed to provide valuable assistance to Council Officers in the set-up and smooth operation of the Emergency Relief Centre which aims to support community members who may be affected by an emergency. Tasks could include setting up the relief centre to run efficiently, assisting in meeting, greeting and directing community members seeking refuge and assistance, organising food and drink for visitors and community members.
