Maintenance Conservation Environment
About this opportunity
Volunteers are needed to assist with maintaining the BRT reserve. (Bellarine Rail Trail, from Geelong Showgrounds to Drysdale Station). Activities include re-vegetating, propagating new seedlings, preparing sites, planting seedlings, watering, spreading mulch, pruning and ongoing weeding.
Weekly working bees are:
- on Tuesday mornings at the community nursery in South Geelong, propagating new plants and seedlings;
- on Wednesday mornings maintaining the BRT reserve through revegetating and watering of plants, spreading mulch and weeding along the trail.
Volunteering days and hours are optional / flexible and can be discussed with the Agency.
Additional requirements
Attend weekly working bees..
Have a sense of humour, a common sense approach and an interest in the environment.
Tuesday propagating new plants & seedlings/ Wednesdays planting plants, spreading mulch and maintaining the trail and occasional planting on other days. At each working bee, the location and time for the next working bee is advised; also advised by email on the Sunday before.
Tuesday 9.30am - 11.30am, propagating new plants and seedlings at the South Geelong Community Nursery Wednesday 8.30am - 11.30am planting seedlings, spreading mulch and maintaining the trail. Volunteering days and hours are negotiable / flexible and can be discussed with the Agency.
