Seeking passionate long-term Volunteer Guides:
Volunteering at the NCA is a rewarding opportunity to inspire diverse audiences, building an appreciation of our National Capital.
Guides will be provided with relevant training. The NCA supports flexible work life demands.
The activities of a Volunteer Guide include:
- Presenting education programs to school students
- Welcoming and assisting visitors
- Conducting walking tours of along Anzac Parade, Reconciliation Place, the shore of Lake Burley Griffin or within the Old Parliament House Gardens
- Assisting with activities related to special events such as Reconciliation Day, the Canberra and Region Heritage Festival and National Volunteer Week

• Inherent Physical Requirements:
Posture: Ability to stand for long periods while interpreting NCA managed sites and facilities.
Movement: Lead 60 - 90 minute tours, moving around involving lots of walking and standing. However, this can be done in a wheelchair if you are comfortable with this level of exercise.
Other: Talking - projecting voice for extended periods.
Work environment: Outdoor spaces. Heritage buildings. Air conditioned rooms with carpeted and hard floors.
Long-term commitment of at least 12months. - 1 x 4hr weekly fixed-day shift at the National Capital Exhibition. Busy and slow periods of the year usually corresponding with school holidays. - 1x 4hr shift on weekend per month at Blundells Cottage. - 1-5 x 1hr program at Anzac Parade, Reconciliation Place, Commonwealth Park/Lake Burley Griffin, Blundells Cottage throughout the week. Volunteers are welcome to choose one or all positions based on their availability and passion.
