About this opportunity
Volunteers with the Orana Early Support Project visit families who have been identified as being in need of support and who have at least one child aged 0-3 years.
We prioritise families with newborn babies, but work with families who need support for a variety of reasons. The volunteers help with caring for babies and children to provide parents with a break from caring responsibilities, offer non-therapeutic support to parents and families, and assist families in linking with community supports. Our volunteers work to improve the emotional health and well-being of parents and their children to help them to thrive.
Volunteers are matched with one family at a time, visiting between 2 to 4 hours once per week. Most families work with the service from 3 to 6 months and can receive support for up to 12 months. We require reliable, non-judgemental, committed volunteers who can focus on the clients’ strengths needs.
Our volunteers require a WWC and Police Clearance and must attend a 1-day training session as well be available for ongoing monthly training and/or group supervision sessions.
