Supervising Driver - Waterloo, Woolloomoollo, La Perouse - # 72202

Young People Regular - more than 6 months Across: Waterloo NSW, Woolloomooloo NSW, La Perouse NSW

About this opportunity

As a volunteer on the Driving Change program, you will assist people to attain their drivers licence by supporting learner drivers to complete their supervised driving hours.

Learner drivers who participate in the Driving Change program do not have access to adults who are in a position to provide driving supervision, which means you will play a vital role in supporting learners to achieve access to a drivers licence, and everything that makes possible - including transportation, easier/safer access to healthcare, employment, support services and community events.

The volunteer role involves spending a minimum of 2 hours per week on the road with a learner driver. During this time, the volunteer is required to provide supportive guidance, encouragement and build appropriate confidence in the learner driver. The goal is to help the learner to prepare for their provisional licence test, with the support of Weave’s professional instructors.

We provide access to several automatic vehicles and one manual vehicle. Volunteer driving instructors are covered by our insurance. You can choose to volunteer from the following locations: La Perouse, Waterloo, or Woolloomooloo.

Volunteer minimum age is 25 years.

Benefits: This is a rewarding role with measurable outcomes and provides an obvious and valuable benefit to the learner driver. It further provides an opportunity for a volunteer to develop a mentoring-type relationship with the program participant.
