Horse Assistant - helping people with disabilities
About this opportunity
Would you like to assist us as we provide invaluable activities for people with a disability? You will be working with our horses; helping to lead or support riders in a lesson. No previous experience with horses is necessary, just the desire to make a difference.
The role of Horse Volunteers is to assist the centre coach with the care, welfare and preparation of our horses and ponies on days when Horsepower sessions are held.
This position includes horse related duties such as preparing and leading horses, grooming and tacking of horses. Leading horses in lessons where clients need to be lead. Assisting other volunteers and coaches in making a difference to people with diverse abilities and challenges in a supportive environment whilst gaining new skills and confidence.
An induction training program and on-the-job training is provided.
Additional requirements
Driver's Licence (C) . National Police Certificate *.
Must be interested working with horses and people with disabilities.
You do not need experience working with horses, however, this would be an advantage.
Needs to be physically fit to undertake this role.
Weekdays 8.00am-12pm and 2.00pm-6.00pm
