Community Visitor

About this opportunity

Community Visitors are the eyes and ears of the community and perform an important role of upholding the human rights of people with a cognitive disability and/or mental illness who are living in supported care. They monitor and report on the adequacy of services being provided to residents/patients. Community Visitors also talk to residents to identify issues of concern and write a brief report at the conclusion of the visit. Community Visitors visit in pairs and visit facilities within their region. **NB:**Pre COVID-19 visits were face-to-face and access to your own transport to get to visits is required. (Travel expenses are reimbursed). This will be the expectation when it is safe for face-to-face visits to resume. In the interim, all visits by volunteers are taking place in pairs by either telephone or video. Training for this role is provided. This is a challenging and rewarding role which is a formal Victorian Governor-In-Council appointment. A minimum 2 year commitment to this role is required. However, please note that breaks/holidays can be taken within the tenure. Please note that due to the long-term nature of this role, this role is generally not suitable for students wanting to gain experience in the sector.

Driver's Licence (C) . National Police Certificate ^*.
