About this opportunity
Community Visitors are the eyes and ears of the community and perform an important role of upholding the human rights of people with a cognitive disability and/or mental illness who are living in supported care. They monitor and report on the adequacy of services being provided to residents/patients. Community Visitors also talk to residents to identify issues of concern and write a brief report at the conclusion of the visit. Community Visitors visit in pairs and visit facilities within their region. **NB:**Pre COVID-19 visits were face-to-face and access to your own transport to get to visits is required. (Travel expenses are reimbursed). This will be the expectation when it is safe for face-to-face visits to resume. In the interim, all visits by volunteers are taking place in pairs by either telephone or video. Training for this role is provided.
