About this opportunity

The Historical Society members are the Volunteer custodians and Guides of the Azelia Ley Homestead Museum and Wagonhouse museum, on roster for Sunday opening 1.30-4.30pm, and supervising the Museums for booked tours and school excursions, as they occur (Mon-Wed).

They are also involved in supporting City of Cockburn events; High Tea, & Spring Fair and various projects; ANZAC poppies, conferences and workshops, Heritage Festival Vintage Machinery Day, as well as ongoing projects; Davilak Ruins development & archaeology, and Wagonhouse & machinery development.

Volunteers need to have a genuine interest in their local history & membership of The Historical Society of Cockburn($5.00), to enable them to gain knowledge of the Museums and service visitors.

They need to play to their own skills, involving themselves in their specific interests, as part of this active group, and be willing to help maintain the Museums.

Time Required

Man the museums on roster, Sundays 1.30-4.30pm, and tours when they are booked (Mon-Wed)(1hr). Informal gathering on Mon morns to discuss, dust, have a cuppa, and assess the latest donations of artefacts. Where possible, we encourage volunteers to attend the monthly meeting of the Society- 1st Wed of the month 4.30pm-6pm.
