Community Visitor - Drouin
About this opportunity
Community Visitors are the eyes and ears of the community and perform an important role of upholding the human rights of people with a cognitive disability and/or mental illness.
Community Visitors visit accommodation facilities and monitor and report on the adequacy of services provided.
Community Visitors also talk to residents/patients to identify issues of concern.
Community Visitors visit in pairs, and visit accommodation facilities within their region. They spend between 8-10 hours per month visiting facilities.
Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills are required.
The ability to contribute to a visit report is also required.
This role is ideally suited to individuals who are able to visit during day-time hours or late afternoons.
Access to your own vehicle is essential.
Training is provided and out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.
This is a challenging and rewarding role which is a formal Victorian Governor-In-Council appointment.
Please note that due to the long-term nature of this role, this role is generally not suitable for job seekers, student placements or students wanting to gain experience in the sector.
