About Us

Goonawarra Neighbourhood House is a not-for-profit organisation which offers a range of programs supporting the needs of our community. We seek to be inclusive and supportive of people from diverse backgrounds and varying abilities. We believe every individual has inherent worth, knowledge and skills.

Volunteers are vitally important to the successful running of the Goonawarra Neighbourhood House programs. We value the contributions of our volunteers and aim to provide meaningful opportunities for our volunteers to share their unique skills and interests.

The role

Goonawarra Neighbourhood House is managed by an elected Committee of Management made up of local volunteers. The committee guides the house's governance and strategic vision. Committee members play a vital part in the house's ongoing operation.

List of tasks

  • Engaging in bi-monthly Committee meetings
  • Attending occasional Goonawarra Neighbourhood House events
  • Reviewing Agenda, Minutes and Discussion items
  • Providing input, ideas, and perspectives on business items affecting the houses’ operations
  • Role-specific tasks apply to Executive Members (Secretary, Treasurer, Deputy-Chair)

Desirable (but not required) skills & experience

This role would be suited to individuals with a background in governance, human resources, accounting, community development, business management, or any skills that will help keep a small community organisation meet its business and compliance outcomes.


Additional requirements

National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.

Prospective members will be required to complete the Australian Charities & Not-for-profit responsible persons check.

Time Required

Our committee meets online once every two months, on Tuesday evenings, for 1 hour. Meeting days are flexible and chosen based on the committee members' availability. Committee members are also encouraged to attend occasional events at the house or in the community
