Backup spokespeople - work from home

Animal Welfare Regular - more than 6 months Anywhere

About this opportunity

The Coalition for the Protection of Greyhounds is a dedicated group of volunteers across Australia committed to ending greyhound suffering.

CPG exposes the cruelty and corruption of greyhound racing and lobbies state governments to close the industry down.

CPG will fight until the day that no greyhound suffers death, injury or abuse at the hands of the greyhound racing industry.

We would like to create a small pool of back up spokespeople to help out when our state spokespeople have holidays, are unwell, need a break to decompress or during high demand times. We would be happy to start you on easier, less challenging media interviews so you can get up to speed comfortably.

If you have the following skills, we would love to hear from you:

  • extensive experience with media interviews,
  • able to be time flexible and quickly responsive to media requests,
  • willing to comment in line with CPG's five key demands and hot issue briefs,
  • willing to use your mobile for liaising with the media,
  • willing to accept feedback and guidance if needed,
  • happy to work from your own desk at home, but willing to liaise with team members as needed.

Due to our recruiting workload, please note that we can’t respond to your application unless you meet the criteria.

Please note CPG is not registered with Centrelink, so cannot provide volunteering which satisfies their requirements.

CPG strives to create a safe and inclusive culture with wellbeing at its centre. We embrace diversity and welcome applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with diverse gender and sexual identities, people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and people with disability.

Benefits to you:

  • You get to make a major contribution to greyhound welfare and volunteer with like-minded individuals
  • We will be able to provide you a letter of recommendation
  • We will be able to act as a reference for your CV or resume

Additional requirements

Due to the potentially confronting issues in the greyhound racing industry, volunteers need to be at least 18 years old.
Please don't apply unless you are serious about volunteering. It's very discouraging when people apply, then don't respond to our welcome email.

Time Required

We're happy to work with volunteers who can give us any regular help, whether it's two hours a week or 20 hours/week. We can provide project-based work. We can also involve you in the hurly-burly of the daily guerrilla fighting that makes so much media work great fun.
