Support Worker

Family Services Regular - less than 6 months Pimlico QLD

About this opportunity

A compassionate and empathetic person who has excellent communication skills. A person who is willing to push boundaries when needed and be able to read legislation to apply it to each parent's situation if required. We require a resourceful friend who can offer emotional and practical support, along with reliability.

Additional requirements

Driver's Licence (C) . National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.

- To provide support, understanding, empathy and compassion to parents, grandparents and significant others involved with Child Safety.
- Court support
- Writing affidavits
- Phone support
- Attending meetings with families as requested
- Attend Family Catch up days at the FIN House
- Other tasks as required.
- Orient parents to their rights and responsibilities within the child welfare system.
- Provide information in response to parent enquiries.
- Arrange parent meetings and assist in hosting purposeful local groups and morning teas.
- Support parents to develop self-advocacy skills.
- Promote, support, and represent family inclusion within the sector and the community (depending on capacity)

Time Required

minimum 8 hours a week on one or more weekdays
