Animal Welfare Regular - more than 6 months Kelso QLD

About this opportunity

The volunteers assist riders with leading horses or walking along side riders/horses during their classes. All classes are designed and controlled by our qualified coach. Full training and inductions are provided to all volunteers.

Volunteer Qualities

  • Physically capable of light sustained activity.
  • Enjoy the outdoors.
  • Enjoy social interaction with riders, families, other volunteers and horses.

Must have:

  • Full Covid 19 Vaccination

  • Working with Children Blue Card (can assist to acquire) Tasks

  • Assist to prepare and saddle up horses

  • Assist to prepare and set up arena with Coach

  • Assist to provide a predetermined selection of boots and helmets from our library.

  • Assist riders to correctly fit boots and helmets as required.

  • Assist with horse leading or side walking with riders

  • Assist to unsaddle horse and release after lessons.

  • Assist to clean up equipment from arena as instructed.

Experience

  • Light, low impact exercise.
  • Interaction with riders, families, other volunteers and horses.
  • Interaction with horses and ponies
  • Emotional and mental well being

Covid-19 vaccination . Working with Children Check *.

Time Required

8.30am to 10.45am every Thursday for Term 2, 3 and 4 of QLD school term.
