Policy & Research

Drug & Alcohol Services Regular - more than 6 months Lyneham ACT

About this opportunity

Families and Friends for Drug Law Reform has provided a forum since 1995 for advocacy and mutual support for those impacted by unjust and punitive approach to those who happen to use illicit substances. We have held to the view that punitive drug laws and policies do more harm than the drugs themselves. Most who try a drug will do so with no ill effect. For some though, the stigma, marginalisation and involvement of law enforcement will precipitate a serious drug problem which can have lifelong consequences.

Public health principles of harm reduction should guide drug policy. Harm reduction is underpinned by the strong belief that all life is inherently valuable, that what we need to avoid is harm, and we need to avoid that more strenuously than we need to avoid drug use.
