About this opportunity
If you’re interested in connecting with older people who are socially isolated, we’d love to hear from you! We’re looking for Volunteers who are creative thinkers and committed to supporting people live their best lives. Volunteers who can support older people with their goals around staying independent, healthy and connected to their community. You may be interested in a connection with Jan*, who has been described as chatty, an 'ideas person', thoughtful and open minded. Jan enjoys watching tv, especially AFL (Essendon fan). She also enjoys listening to golden oldies music and likes gardening *name changed.
Connecting with Jan* may involve visiting her at home, having a chat over the phone, meeting up for a coffee and/or sharing a skill. It might involve checking out what’s on offer at a local neighbourhood centre, library or an activity of interest.
We offer opportunities in skill and knowledge development, as well as ongoing support and mentoring. Good communication skills and the ability to work independently are a must. Having a driver’s licence/access to own vehicle is highly desired but not essential. We value diversity in lived experience, language, skills and abilities. *Name changed for privacy.
