About this opportunity
The primary purpose of the Garden & home maintenance service is to assist people over 65 who reside in the Bay & Basin area to maintain their home in a safe and habitable condition. Garden and maintenance services provided are linked to assisting clients to maintain their independence, safety, accessibility and health and wellbeing within the home environment. Tasks may include repairs to broken chair backs, tables etc., and repairs to gates, latches, fence palings, and damaged pathways/steps, loose railings. Yard & rubbish clearance, installation of key lock boxes, Touch up painting, routine maintenance & furniture and equipment movement and Ad hoc repairs. Lawn & Garden Maintenance: undertake Access pruning & hedging, lawn mowing, weeding, edging, mulching, garden tidies, rubbish removal & routine organisation equipment maintenance.

While performing this role, the volunteer is frequently required to undertake manual handling tasks including pushing, lifting, bending, squatting etc. The role also requires volunteers to predominately work outdoors and may be required to volunteer in fluctuating and adverse conditions and heat.
